If the life you're currently living feels far removed from the one you’re yearning for, you're not alone. You're right in telling yourself there should be more to how you pass your precious, limited time on this planet. And you're right in feeling exactly the way you're feeling - perhaps lost, disconnected, demotivated, lacking an inner sense of joy or fulfilment, and certainly not in control of your own destiny.
My name is Bianca Ivanof and I've been deeply involved in Psychology and Psychotherapy for more than a decade. I spent nearly 10 years in London studying Psychology and Neuroscience and obtaining a PhD in a subject called sense of agency, which refers to the cognitive capacity that allows us to be autonomous and in control of our lives. I then moved on to train in Integrative Psychotherapy back in my hometown of Bucharest, where I studied psychotherapeutic interventions for the treatment of procrastination and workaholism as part of my dissertation.
I love and firmly believe in the potential we humans have to intentionally craft a life full of meaning - one that truly suits us, fulfils our unique vision and helps us withstand adversity and challenge. I call this "a life well lived", and this has been the driving force behind my research into both the sense of autonomy and control that sense of agency entails, and what I like to call “pathologies of human potential” that ensue from procrastination and workaholism - two work-related mental health problems which, despite sitting at opposite ends of the spectrum, both signal the same core pain: an inability to maintain healthy self-esteem, and to use work and one’s potential in a way that enriches rather than depletes one’s life and sense of self. This has also been the biggest catalyst behind my wish to become a Psychotherapist and help others heal and find their way back to truly living - not constantly procrastinating on the life they could have, or, on the contrary, over-functioning by numbing themselves with work that harms their health and relationships with their loved ones without even feeding their soul; instead, creating true purpose and meaning in their days, and finding balance and inner joy.
So, I'm here to listen, accompany you, and help you discover, create and take ownership of the sort of life that would mean the world to you.
